Gemkom Engineering and Machinery Filial is a newly established branch of the Turkish company Gemkom. It is a leading engineering and manufacturing company that operates in a number of areas and in various ways within the steel industry.

We are participating in a project where Stegra AB establishes a steel mill in Norra Svartbyn in Boden where steel will be produced through an almost fossil-free process using hydrogen gas. Our mission is, among other things, to install machines used in steel production and includes work in mechanics, electronics and plumbing.

We now want to employ Welder helpers. The work tasks may include but are not limited to:

Job Description

The Welder Helper assists welders and welding supervisors in performing welding and fabrication activities on site or in fabrication facilities. The role involves supporting welding operations by preparing materials, maintaining tools and equipment, and ensuring work areas are safe and organized. The Welder Helper helps ensure that welding activities are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist welders in daily welding and fabrication activities on site or in the workshop.

· Support preparation of metal components for welding by cleaning, grinding, cutting, measuring, and fitting materials.

· Help position and secure metal parts, pipes, or structural components prior to welding operations.

· Assist in handling and setting up welding equipment, tools, cables, and gas cylinders as required.

· Ensure welding consumables, tools, and materials are available and properly organized for welding operations.

· Remove slag, spatter, and excess material from welded surfaces using hand tools or grinders.

· Assist with basic tasks related to welding processes such as TIG (141) or MMA/SMAW (111) under supervision.

· Maintain cleanliness and organization of the welding area, including removal of scrap materials and waste.

· Assist in basic inspection activities by helping prepare welded joints for quality checks.

· Follow instructions from welders, foremen, and supervisors to support smooth workflow and project progress.

· Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of welding tools, materials, and equipment.

· Comply with all safety procedures related to welding operations and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Desirable qualifications (not mandatory)

· Basic experience in construction, fabrication, or industrial work environments is preferred.

· Previous experience assisting welders or working in metal fabrication is an advantage.

· Basic understanding of welding tools, materials, and workshop practices.

· Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

· Good teamwork and communication skills

· Physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks
